We experienced this once again at the 52nd BME Symposium on Purchasing and Logistics at the InterContinental Hotel in Berlin.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under the motto \u201cAdded value: global networks,\u201d the German Association for Materials Management, Purchasing, and Logistics (BME) hosted informative specialist conferences, exciting morning specials, intensive workshops, creative innovation forums, and lively roundtable discussions from November 8 to 10, 2017. Of the 2,000 participants, most were once again interested in the purchasing control conference in the largest event room \u2013 ensuring that the seats were filled to capacity. A particular highlight was the presentation by Olaf Feil, Senior Manager Procurement Business Services &#038; Infrastructure, Carl Zeiss AG, entitled \u201cSmart purchasing control \u2013 innovation meets sustainability.\u201d He showed how an efficient purchasing controlling process can strengthen strategic purchasing in the long term:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From pure controlling to a management tool<\/li>\n<li>Strategies for practical implementation throughout the organization<\/li>\n<li>Outlook \u2013 how reports are becoming even smarter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This clearly demonstrated the importance of good cooperation and professional exchange on an equal footing.<\/p>\n<p>The topics at the SoftconCIS stand also sparked lively discussions among purchasing professionals. Mobile purchasing controlling, big data, and bots were of particular interest.<\/p>\n<p>It was also clear to our prospective customers that dashboards remain a must in purchasing, as does spend management with a savings tracker. The SoftconCIS savings tracker generates suggestions for improvement from purchasing data and automatically displays potential savings.
